Mayor Sylvester Turner said, “This is not the kind of business I would like to see in Houston and certainly this is not the kind of business the city is seeking to attract," reports Fox News.
Mayor also said that "I'm not trying to be the moral police, but I am charged with the health and safety of the people in our city." He further added, "And I do want to make sure that an ordinance that came into existence in the 1990s is applicable to things that are taking place today."

In the opposition, the change.org petition started by Elijah Rising has managed to accumulate 9,000 signature. It is a local anti-sex trafficking charity and also believes that these brothels would create an "expansion of the already dehumanized act of sex buying", reports Sky News.
